Random!

Ok!  I was literally just sitting here eating my lunch and I had this thought....

For lunch today I got a salad from a salad bar and brought it back to work to eat.  You know when you go to the salad bar you put a little of this and a little of that.  Well, I was eating a little of this and that and I just had the strangest combo on my fork.

Chicken and Egg in one bite.  Is that weird to anyone else?  Does that immediately conjure up the "What came first?  The chicken or the egg?" discussion in your head.  Is it okay to eat the 2 together when you don't know which came first?  I just don't know how I feel about it!  I'm sure I'll eat it anyway!

Hmmmmm.

Remember to check out the sale at Sven's this weekend!!!

Animal Print

So, I must say that I love this shirt!  It has an animal print, but I actual love the colors more!  It helps me be a bit more on board with the animal print.  If you would have asked me 2 years ago if I would wear animal print I would have said "Hell No", but I kinda like it now.  I think it's because most of the prints I choose are not so literal as an animal print.  I choose prints that are a little more subtle.

The photos posted today will be missing my face!  My husband took the pics from the comfort of the couch.  What that means for me is the pics are showing my double chin!  I was looking down at him and he was shooting up!  Yikes!  No Bueno!

Have a great day!

I Love Dahlias!

Hi everyone!

My weekend was pretty relaxing for once!  We didn't have any plans or need to be out of town.  It was also really nice to not have a hangover!  The last month involved a lot of weddings and events where drinking was essential!  This weekend we didn't have a drop.  I must say I feel great for a Monday!

On Saturday we went to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.  We were hoping to see some color on the trees, but it's a little early for that here in the metro area.  We did however happen upon the Dahlia garden!  I love Dahlias.  The Dahlias that we saw were plants with huge, giant flowers!  They are so pretty!  Lucky for you I took pictures and they turned out great!

Have a great Monday!

Missing!

Hi everyone!

I know I haven't posted at all this week and I hate to give you excuses, but....

I threw out my back and it really hurts!  You might be saying "What does that have to do with posting?".  Well, it's hard to get dressed in the morning and all I want to do is be comfortable.  This does not make for the best pictures or feelings of confidence in how I look.  To tell you the truth I am feeling really sorry for myself!

Another honest moment....

I  have gained a little weight back and am feeling sorry for myself about that too!

Do you ever have those moments when you are feeling down and you don't like how you look in any pictures?

So...

I had a PT appointment today to get my back back in order!  I also went back to Slimgenics to get my waistline in order!!

Hopefully, I will be feeling more positive in the days to come!

Here are some pictures from the shores of Lake Superior to tide you over.

Dress: Anthropolgie (new, but not on the website)

Have a great day!

Beautiful Duluth

Hi all!

Last weekend friends of ours were married in Two Harbors, MN.  On the way to the wedding we stopped in Duluth.  If you haven't been there you have to check it out!  We strolled on Canal Street and took in some sights.  Here is the outfit I wore for the road trip!

Margarita on a Friday afternoon?  Yes, please!

Sweater: Old Navy (sold out)
Jeans: Hudson

For those of you who are not familiar, Duluth is on Lake Superior.  Here are some cool shots of the lake.

Rain in the distance.

Really big boat going through the canal!

Blog about Clogs!

Here it is the highly anticipated post about visiting Sven's clogs!

I am going to start by saying that the folks that work at Sven's are so GREAT!  I had such a fun time meeting them and touring the factory.  They are some of the nicest people I have meet in a long time!  They also provided awesome customer service in designing my clogs so they fit just right!!!!

My tour was on a Sunday.  I was to meet Lisa at the factory at 1:00.  When I arrived I knocked on the door and saw that there was someone in the building working.  I guessed that it wasn't Lisa because she is the marketing and public relations gal, so I figured it was one of the staff working some extra hours.  I walked in and this energetic sparkling person said "Hello, you must be Lisa, I'll get Lisa".  I said "Thanks" and waited.  Lisa came down and said "Oh, I see you have met Marie".  I said "Oh, that's Marie" and thought to myself "the owner is working on a Sunday"!  That wasn't what I expected..

You see, Sven's manufactures their own line of clogs, but they also manufacture clogs for high end designers like No.6 and Loeffler Randall.  I thought that since the clogs were big time that Marie would have a nice big office upstairs and her staff would do all the work, but that is not how Marie works!  I have never seen someone so passionate about what she does!  On some of the higher end shoes she is the only one that creates them because of the very intricate steps.  She is Sven's clogs!

On to the tour!

Marie took me through the steps to create a clog!  Has anyone ever actually thought about the steps that need to occur to create that shoe on your foot?  It's amazing!  The fact that Marie and Lisa took time out of their day to show me the process is also incredible!

Here are some photos of the process!

Cutting the leather

Thinning the leather so it can be sewn together

Sewing the leather
Preparing the base of the shoe

Attaching the upper to the base (that's one powerful stapler).  Look how close her fingers are to it!
Forming the toe box of the shoe with steam to make the leather stretch

Removing the toe box form

And voila!  You have a boot!

Cool!  Maybe it's because I am a shoe lover and now a clog lover!  They are so comfortable!

Tune it tomorrow where I will reveal the clogs that I had designed for me!!!!!

P.S.  Sven's is having a warehouse sale on September 28th and 29th!  They will be selling all of the overstocks that they have!  If you live in the area you should check it out!!

Have a great day!

Changes!

Hi all!

Sorry I haven't posted this week!  I am going through some changes!

Well, mainly we moved to a new location in the building at work.  This is awesome!  We were stuck in the basement with no windows and now I see the light of day!

The bad part...
I do some of my blog work at work.  I know that's bad, but I am sure many of us do it!  Currently, I am working out the new feel of the space and finding out if I will be able to update the blog at work without too many eyes around.  I feel like I am a little more exposed right now!

I have items to post for tomorrow and am working on my big clog reveal!!

Please stay tuned!

Oh, and another reason why there are no pictures......

You have to charge the camera every once in a while!
